Students visit the National Gallery of Canada

Ms. Shelly and the Intermediate Indigenous Excellence students recently visited the National Gallery of Canada for an enriching experience focused on Indigenous and Canadian art. During their visit, they explored captivating artworks from regions such as Nunavut and British Columbia, with Inuit art emerging as a clear favorite among the group.
The students participated in a hands-on sketching workshop and also gained valuable insights into:
- traditional and modern carving techniques
- the cultural importance of beading
- the thoughtful design of the Gallery itself—set against the striking backdrop of the Parliament Buildings and the Ottawa River.
It was a memorable and inspiring day of learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation for all involved.
