Our Indigenous Excellence Club has been meeting with the OCDSB Indigenous team every second Thursday to celebrate Indigenous culture and identity. Recently, our grade 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to visit MacSkimming for days on the land, where they explored and learned about the diverse vegetation and animals that hold deep significance to Indigenous communities. There are two more exciting trips coming up, so stay tuned for more details! Additionally, Ms. Shelly and Ms. Reyburn will be taking the Indigenous students to the National Art Gallery to experience the beauty and power of Indigenous art—more information will follow soon. We are also thrilled to announce that York Street PS will soon be offering a weekly Inuktitut language class, further enriching our students' understanding and connection to their Indigenous culture.
