Reading Partnership Program (RPP)

This 10-week after-school program was offered at York Street in partnership with Student Achievement Through Equity (SATE). RPP is designed for kindergarten and grade 1 students, along with their parents/caregivers, to support foundational literacy development. The program provided additional literacy support for children while giving parents/caregivers the tools they need to support their children’s literacy at home. Each participating family received a free literacy kit worth $200.

Beyond literacy support, RPP has been a great school-community initiative. Families gather for dinner before each session, and at the end of the program, we held a graduation celebration. This structure has encouraged families to be actively engaged in their child’s school experience.
