York Street School is a large, heritage school located in Lowertown Ottawa in the Laurier/King Edward/Cobourg area. The school celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1996 with the participation of many former students. As a school in the core of the city, we offer the regular English program to an extremely diverse population. Our JK to Grade 6 pupils come primarily from the immediate neighbourhood. Grade 7 and 8 students come from a number of feeder schools, primarily RE Wilson, Queen Mary and Viscount Alexander Public School. We provide a breakfast program in the morning for our pupils.
In addition to our OCDSB program, two other programs share the building with us. These are run separately from the school. There is an Adult ESL program with day care for the children of the students in Adult ESL. Call 613-239-2737 or 613-239-2325 for information about this program.
There is also a daycare program for our Kindergarten aged students who attend school only half-time. They also provide after school care for older students. This daycare is available for students who do not attend York Street as well as our students. If you want more information about how to register for the daycare, please call 613-789-0280.
