Experimental Farm - Grade One

Experimental Farm
Experimental Farm

On Wednesday 16 April, Grade One visited the Central Experimental Farm for a day of petting newborn lambs, chicks, bunnies, calves and kids. The students immersed themselves in Spring life on the farm, learning about all the different farm animals and how to take care of them. Students were entertained by petting the animals, driving tractor simulators, watching cows having their hooves trimmed and the running of a milk parlor. The farm Educators led a program to teach the students about the interplay between humans and animals. They demonstrated how humans rely on wool, leather and milk in our daily lives. York Street P.S. was very grateful to the Central Experimental Farm for providing a fully funded grant which allowed us to participate in this special day out.
