Byward Market & Mud Kitchen - Grade One

In December 2024, Grade One and Grade Three went to the Byward Market to sing for our local community. They sang winter songs and celebrated the wonderful music and arts that we offer at York. Singing songs about snowmen, presents, and reindeers, the students warmed the hearts of the crowds with their costumes they made at school and their cute actions. The Byward audience gave generously and we were able to use the funds from busking to create our own mud kitchen tools and supplies which we used in the snow and look forward to using in our new mud kitchen area in the spring. Free open play is a fantastic way for the students to use their imagination and they love using the pans, pots and tea sets to create their own outdoor kitchen.
This is the second musical celebration we have had a Byward Market and we continue to look for ways to connect with our local community. We are grateful to the Beavertail stand who provided free hot chocolate to all the students and staff to reward their musical efforts.
